1967년 Gubi & Lisbeth Olsen 부부가 설립한 리빙 브랜드 GUBI는 자신들의 가구와 텍스타일을 판매하기 위해 코펜하겐에 작은 가게를 연 것으로부터 시작됐다. 2001년에는 아들 Jacob Gubi가 합류하여 브랜드를 가족 사업으로 발전시켰다. '끊임없이 변화하는 세계 시장에서 지속 가능한 디자인을 선보이는 것'을 모토로, 1930년대부터 1970년대 사이 덴마크, 프랑스, 이탈리아 등 유명 건축가, 아티스트, 디자이너들의 작품을 자신들만의 방식으로 리런치(Re-launch)하여 선보이고 있다. GUBI는 잊혀진 아이콘을 가져와 현대적 감각으로 재조명한다. 알아보지 못하고 지나친 과거의 보석을 발굴해 새로운 생명을 불어넣고 미래의 디자인을 발굴하는 보물 사냥꾼, 탐험가를 자처하는 이들은 고객들을 낯선 영역으로 안내한다. 그 결과, 100년의 역사를 아우르며 시대와 장소를 가리지 않고 자연스럽게 녹아드는 컬렉션을 전 세계적으로 판매하고 있다. 코펜하겐에 위치한 플래그십 스토어에서는 브랜드의 모든 제품을 직접 보고 구매할 수 있는데, 컬렉션뿐만 아니라 Jacob이 영감을 얻기 위해 수집한 오브제, 액세서리 등도 만나볼 수 있다. Jacob은 GUBI만의 감각으로 세심하게 스타일링 된 이 공간에서 고객들이 놀이터 처럼 즐겁게 즐기며, 브랜드의 제품들을 연결고리 삼아 자신들의 취향으로 스타일링 하기를 바랐다.

9602 FLOOR LAMP Design by Paavo Tyne

The 9602 Floor Lamp, also known as “Chinese Hat” was designed by Paavo Tynell in 1935 for the Hotel Aulanko. Characterised by its elegant and airy lampshade and rattan-covered stem, the 9602 Floor Lamp shows the designer’s limitless imagination and unparalleled ability to create designs of enduring beauty.

RANDACCIO WALL MIRROR Design by Gio Ponti

One of Gio Ponti’s signature designs is the Randaccio Mirror from 1925. Designed for his own home on Via Randaccio in Milano, his very first architectural project, the Randaccio Mirror decorated the walls in his bedroom on the 3rd floor together with other furniture designed for the apartment.

ADNET WALL MIRROR Design by Jacques Adnet

BL10 WALL LAMP Design by Robert Dudley Best

Initially adopted by tailors due to its flexible arm and the possibility to direct the light without making shadows, the Bestlite BL10 Wall Lamp, designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930, is today highly used as a bedside lamp or as a reading lamp in the living room where this exceptional lamp adds character and intensity.

9602 FLOOR LAMP Design by Paavo Tynell
일명 '중국 모자'로 불리는 9602 플로어 램프는 1935년 Paavo Tynell이 Aulanko 호텔을 위해 디자인한 제품이다. 통풍이 원활한 등나무 줄기와 우아한 갓 모양이 특징인 램프에서 디자이너의 무한한 상상력과 탁월한 능력이 드러난다. 장난기 넘치며 생동감이 느껴지는 상단과 정적인 베이스로 균형적인 조화를 이루는 램프는 거실에서 은은한 빛을 비추며 따스한 분위기를 연출하기에 적합하다.

GUBI의 상징적인 아이템 중 하나인 Beetle은 무한한 가능성을 지닌 제품으로, 다양한 색상과 소재로 만들어져 개성 넘치는 표현이 가능하다. 유연하면서도 튼튼한 의자의 외관은 딱정벌레의 껍질에서 아이디어를 얻었다. 디자이너는 벌레의 움직임을 면밀히 관찰하고 해부학, 미학 등을 연구해 오랜 시간 앉아 있어도 편안함이 지속되는 기능적인 형태를 고안해냈다.

파리의 고급 레스토랑을 위해 디자인된 Masculo 의자는 덴마크의 소박함과 이탈리아의 세련미를 접목하여 완성했다. 커다란 등받이는 마치 공중에 떠 있는 듯한 착각을 불러일으키며 독특한 디자인을 통해 디자이너의 감각적인 도전 정신을 엿볼 수 있다. 황소의 뿔을 떠올리게 하는 유려한 라인과 가늘게 이어지는 베이스의 조화로 하나의 조각품처럼 우아한 존재감을 선사한다.

OEO Studio가 디자인한 Coco 체어는 수준 높은 편안함을 선사하는 동시에 카리스마 넘치는 공간을 연출할 수 있도록 도와준다. 바우하우스에서 영향을 받은 디자인은 개성을 훼손하지 않는 최소한의 도구와 재료를 활용하여 심플하면서도 우아한 의자를 완성했다. 부드럽게 등을 감싸 안아주는 유려한 곡선의 등받이에서 여성스러움을 느낄수 있으며, 개성적이면서도 특유의 친근한 외관을 지닌 의자는 가정은 물론 식당, 카페에서도 사용하기 적절하다.

Bat 체어는 이름 그대로 박쥐의 날개를 떠오르게 하는 매혹적이고 독특한 디자인으로 공간에 새로움을 더한다. 의자에 씌어진 패브릭 혹은 가죽은 시간의 흐름에 따라 자연스레 변화하며 또 다른 재미를 선사한다. 스위블 베이스는 전통적인 오피스 체어의 표현을 가져오는 동시에 우아한 아름다움을 배가시켰다.

The authentic Matégot Coat Rack is with its striking brass centrepiece and three arms a unique, functional and decorative coat rack. It is designed in 1956 by Mathieu Matégot and is a perfect example of his designs where changing everyday objects and playing with shapes have been in focus.

Semi Pendant는 덴마크 왕립 미술 아카데미 건축학부 공모전에서 1위를 차지한 제품으로, 디자이너는 당시 깨끗한 라인과 기하학적인 모양을 접목한 램프를 만들고 싶어 했다. 독특한 원뿔 형태에 에나멜을 입힌 금속은 넓은 그늘을 만들어내고, 식탁 혹은 주방에 이상적인 제품으로 강한 존재감을 드러낸다. 경쾌한 디자인과 다양한 색상, 크기를 제공하여 다용도로 활용이 가능하다.

BEETLE & BAT CAPSULE COLLECTION Design by GamFratesi

The Bat Chair is a natural accompaniment to the iconic Beetle Chair, using the same design language and material identity, but with a simple one-piece shell in place of the Beetle’s two-piece split shell. With a unified selection of bases available for both collections, the kinship and symbiosis between the two is evident when they are used interchangeably and in combination.

COBRA TABLE LAMP Design by Greta M. Grossman

The table lamp was originally designed in the 1950s and takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a cobra’s neck. Due to its groundbreaking design, the Cobra Table Lamp won the Good Design Award in the same decade and was subsequently exhibited at the Good Design Show at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
