The ancient city of Dali is located under the Cangshan Mountains and adjacent to the Erhai Lake. It is surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the mountains and the sea, making this city full of unique cultural customs. After analyzing the original structural model, the designer disassembled and reorganized it to generate a new volume structure. According to the function of the floor, the underground parking lot, basement, public space, guest room and roof garden are planned. The hotel is named White Balance, which means to follow the balance and tacit understanding with nature.

White Balance가 위치한 고대 도시 달리는 창산 산맥 아래에 위치해 산과 바다로 둘러싸인 아름다운 풍경을 자랑한다. 하우스의 설계를 담당한 AT디자인은 기존의 낡은 주택을 재구성하여 지하에 주차장과 별도의 공간을 두고, 지상층에는 넓은 공용 공간과 객실, 옥상 공원 등 새로운 볼륨을 형성했다. 하우스의 이름인 White Balance는 자연이 부여하는 암묵적인 규칙을 따르고, 자연과의 균형을 이뤄 공존하고 성장한다는 의미를 담았다. 건물 정면은 흰색 페인트로 도장 마감 후 그릴로 감싸 눈 내린 창산의 아름다운 풍경 속으로 녹아든다.

The facade of the building is wrapped in white paint and decorated with grilles, which complements the beautiful scenery of Cangshan not far away, like a piece of snow falling from Cangshan. The space is not only used as a rest, but the designer hopes to exhibit local art here to show the diversity of national culture. The colorful costumes of ethnic minorities and their singing and dancing personality are shown here one by one. The black three-dimensional volume in the space represents the steep snow-capped mountains standing in front of the eyes, while the colorful paintings represent the romance and mystery of the southern part of the colorful clouds.

건물 전체에는 '하나의 물이 창산을 둘러싸고 창산은 고대 도시를 포용한다' 라는 개념이 산재되어 있다. 스튜디오는 고대 도시의 전통문화와 현대인의 생활양식이 빚어낸 충돌을 베이지색 페인트와 파란색의 질감, 볼륨으로 표현했다. 여기서 파란색은 전통적인 염료로써, 하늘과 바다의 색으로 세상의 모든 것을 포함하는 의미를 가진다. 전면 개구부를 통해 열린 1층 공간을 거닐면 북 바(Book bar) 등 다양한 공용공간을 자유롭게 이동할 수 있다. 사용자들은 바닥에서 천장까지 이어진 유리를 통해 아름답게 펼쳐진 거리 풍경과 대화를 나눈다. 각 층에 배치된 객실은 색온도의 번호를 이름으로 하고, 이를 통해 화이트
밸런스라는 브랜드 의미를 함께 전달한다.

Ten guest rooms are integrated with local elements, tiedyeing craftsmanship, snow mountain scenery, karst caves and other landscapes. The windows are like a magnificent picture scroll, looking at the natural beauty in the distance, feeling the satisfaction and happiness of the moment. Each guest room has an exclusive color temperature number as its name, and the color temperature number is used to convey the brand connotation of white balance. The bathtub is facing the large floor-to-ceiling glass, so you can enjoy the lifestyle gifted by nature. The designer uses white balance to create a lifestyle suitable for the local area, hoping that travelers can stop here and experience the peaceful time that belongs to Dali in another way.

다도 공간은 어두운 컬러를 사용해 벽에 설치된 달 조형물과 대비를 이룬다. 이곳에서는 윈난성을 대표하는 푸얼차를 마실 수 있는데, 멀리 창산을 바라보며 마시는 차는 이 공간에서만 느낄 수 있는 독특한 문화적 경험을 만든다. 3층 규모의 조경실은 바닥부터 이어진 큰 창과 야외 발코니를 통해 창산 풍경의 정수를 느낄 수 있다. 자연광은 최고의 디자인 요소로써 계단에서 사용자의 흐름을 만들어내고, 유리 천창을 통해 푸른 하늘과 흰 구름을 방안으로 반사시킨다. 디자이너는 화이트 밸런스가 현지에 맞는 라이프스타일을 바탕으로 사용자들이 이곳에서 달리의 평화로운 시간을 다른 방식으로 경험할 수 있기를 바랐다.
